Arutala is a technology based-social innovation project in the form of digital marketplace which aim to connect batik handcrafters in Giriloyo Village with potential buyers and hand-written batik collectors. Easily accessible through your smartphone, Arutala is completed with batikpedia feature which enable the potential buyers and batik collector to know deeper about the hand-written batik produced in Giriloyo Village, complete with the philosophy, pattern, production process, and personal story from the batik handcrafters.

Besides that, the potential buyer also able to access scanner which will show the location where you can get the batik as well as the specification of the batik itself. The batik scanner is integrated with batikpedia to show the pattern and philosophy explanation of the batik that will be bought or collected. The potential buyer can also use chat box feature that will be enable the user to communicate personally with the batik handcrafters for custom order, ask for details, the ready-stock and the price of the product.

In addition to mentioned features, Arutala digital marketplace also have tote-bag adoption program called Momong the Rimong. It’s an adoption of a tote-bag in a tiger doll named Rimong which is one of the legendary animal – white tiger in Giriloyo Village since 1600C. By adopting Rimong, the adopters are expected to take care of the Rimong as if they take care of their own pet. This adoption program will also help the village to empower the youth to conserve the traditional handbatik pattern from Kraton which have been only known and conserved by the 1930-1970s generation.
