In 1997, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, MINTIC, granted the Community Action Board of the Cálamo neighborhood, led at that time by the community leader, ROBERTO MONTIEL OVIEDO, the operating license for a community radio station. called CÁLAMO STEREO 98.8 FM. In 2006 it changed its business name to LA PREFERIDA 98.8 FM. Since 2016 and currently this community process is being led by the MGR. HILDE ALFONSO MORENO HERRERA as manager and the technician in social communication and journalism AND HOVANY ANDRÉS VÉLEZ as general director and a whole team of professionals, who have consolidated a positioning job that currently places LA PREFERIDA 98.8 FM as one of the best community radio stations in the country.
